El Instituto de Estudios sobre Conflictos y Acción Humanitaria (IECAH), creado en el año 2000, tiene su sede en Madrid. Se constituye como una iniciativa privada que agrupa a un conjunto de especialistas en los ámbitos del estudio de los conflictos, y la cooperación con especial énfasis en la ayuda humanitaria, con una amplia experiencia acumulada en diversas áreas temáticas y geográficas, tanto desde una perspectiva docente como investigadora, desarrollada en centro académicos y de análisis nacionales y extranjeros. Unen a ello una experiencia y enfoque práctico con mucha experiencia en ONG y otros organismos de cooperación.

The Institute of Studies on Conflicts and Humanitarian Action (IECAH) was founded in the year 2000 and has its central office in Madrid . It is a private initiative which unites experts from various fields and geographic areas related to international conflict and cooperation with special emphasis on humanitarian action. The expertise and activities exist at both an educational as well as a research level, and from national as well as international perspectives and centers. IECAH unites considerable practical experience and knowledge from work for NGOs and other types of organizations active in the field of international cooperation.

El Grupo de Investigación Paisaje Cultural — GIPC es una estructura de investigación que orienta su objetivo a estudiar el significado cultural del entorno construido. Considerando que la complejidad del paisaje circundante es resultado de su condición de espacio de negociación cultural, su comprensión a través de la investigación teórica y aplicada –crítica y especulativa– resulta de gran relevancia para afrontar los retos contemporáneos de la arquitectura, la ciudad y el territorio.

Los proyectos de investigación del GIPC desafían los límites tradicionales entre las disciplinas que trabajan con el espacio construido. Ha consolidado un enfoque que favorece el cruce de metodologías entre arquitectura, urbanismo, arte, humanidades, ciencias sociales, patrimonio, ecología e ingeniería. En coherencia su equipo es marcadamente transdisciplinar y está formado por investigadores de múltiples departamentos de arquitectura e ingeniería de la UPM.

The Cultural Landscape research Group — GIPC is an research group whose purpose is to study the cultural meaning of the built environment. Bearing in mind that the complexity of the surrounding environment derives from the fact that it constitutes a space for cultural negotiation, understanding it through theoretical and applied research – both critical and speculative – is extremely important in order to face modern-day challenges for architecture, city and territory.

The GIPC’s research projects challenge the traditional boundaries that lie between the disciplines that work with the built environment. The GIPC has consolidated an approach that encourages an interchange of methodologies between architecture, spatial planning, art, humanities, social sciences, heritage, ecology and engineering. Accordingly, our team is markedly transdisciplinary and is made up of researchers from the different architecture and engineering departments of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM).
